Sunday, January 24, 2010 |

Dear Friends,

Due to the high demand of MBA/MCA degrees in market, many organizations have started their own colleges and tried to manipulated the education systems. There are many private colleges who are offering MBA or Post Graduate program in Management to lure the students who are not able to get admission in MBA colleges affiliates to GCET or any other government approved colleges.

Before taking admission in any private college or deemed university, check with UGC and AICTE for their approval.

UGC have published a list of 22 deemed universities offering fake degrees. From there are many who were offering MBA or Post Graduate Programs in Management.

If you finding any problem in validating the approval of those colleges in which you want to take admission then feel free to contact me.

Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET)

|

Before 2002, thousands of students of Gujarat were facing a big problem when they were thinking of taking admission in the masters degree program in the fields of Computer Applications. Students have to appear for separate entrance test for each university. If a student want to take admission in the MCA colleges affiliated with Gujarat University then he/she have to appear for MCA entrance exam of Gujarat University. Similarly, if he/she want to take admission in any MCA college affiliated with South Gujarat University then they have to appear for a separate entrance exam.

This system was not in favor of students as they have to pay individual fees for each exam as well as have to go to different centers to give the exams.

Gujarat government understood the problem of the MCA aspirants and from the year 2002, a new form of an Exam was introduced and government gave it a separate name GCET which stands for Gujarat Common Entrance Test. As there are separate examinations like CAT, MAT, CET etc, Gujarat have its own examination, GCET.

Before the year 2008, GCET was conducted by a nodal university and it was handling the entire examination and admission process but from the date 26th May, 2009, Government of Gujarat had merged all MCA colleges of Gujarat under a single entity, GTU.

Gujarat Technology University was established in 2007 and from the year 2009, all MCA colleges came under the GTU.

GCET (Gujarat Common Entrance Test) for MCA is a single window entry point to MCA course in the institutes, colleges and university departments offering Master in Computer Application (MCA) course.

GCET is conducted by GTU under the direction of an admission committee constituted by the vice-chancellor of the universities in accordance with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi guideline.

GCET for MCA is conducted every year by the admission committee in the month of June-July under the monitoring of GTU.

Still, if we look at the figures and the performance of the IT and ITeS companies, they are performing really well and there is huge scope in the industry. In fact, by 2010, the demand and supply gap is going to be as wide as half a million jobs. US Bureau of Labor statistics has predicted a 68 per cent increase in output growth rate of the IT industry between 2002 and 2012.

McKinsey conducted a study that revealed a substantial growth in IT businesses in India. It further predicted for 2008 that India's IT business revenue will cross US $85 billion. More than 2 million new jobs will be created out of this and Indian companies will observe their market capitalization to reach a magical figure of US$ 225 billion. The proliferating impact of the future scenario can be inferred from the fact that one job in IT creates five more jobs in the businesses that rely on IT software and hardware.
